In the wedding industry, we often say to expect the unexpected. However, the last thing any of us anticipated was something like the current pandemic that has prohibited any events or social contact to take place. We are currently experiencing a unique time for event and wedding planners. It is particularly stressful for our clients who have been working on planning their big day for a year or longer. With so much time invested, it is easy to be discouraged by the current state of the world. What can you do during this time to alleviate some of this stress?
Postpone – don’t cancel!
It may be your first instinct to cancel your event or wedding. The best option is to postpone to a different date. Cancelling will not allow any of your vendors to be flexible and based on your contract, you probably won’t get any money back. Vendors during this time are often willing to carry your contract over to your new date given the circumstances.
Consult Your Planner
This is why we are here! Allow us to reach out to your vendors to discuss making arrangements for a new date. This is the best way to keep you stress-free and maintain organization with all the moving pieces of your wedding.
Get Creative
Channel your energy! This is a great time to learn calligraphy, work on a DIY project, or work on your seating chart if your wedding is at a later date and may not be affected. If you are discouraged about having to postpone your April or May wedding, you can keep the date and plan a celebration at a later time. There are many ways to still get married with social distancing.
Stay Positive
Above all else, it is important to remember this will not last forever. Everyone in the wedding industry is feeling the same urgency to cater to our clients and reassure them all their planning will become a reality. Patience is key here. We are certainly all in this together!
